Major Flood in West Warwick, Warwick & Cranston: Flooding

Hundreds of people living in Rhode Island have been evacuated from their homes in what is predicted to be the worst flood Rhode island has seen in over one hundred years! R.I.’s governor Donald Carcieri was warning people to get off the roads by Tuesday evening to avoid problems with the flooding.

Luckily there are no injured people or casualties as a result of the flooding, but I have seen two Army search and rescue helicopters searching the river. The flooding has already affected houses, roads including a closure of RT-95 and other buildings. In March, Providence saw 15.39 inches of rain fall, setting a new all time record.

Currently I live in W. Warwick right on the Pawtuxet River (the one thats flooding) while I attend New England Institute of Technology located in Warwick (which has been closed due to the flooding) below are some pictures I have snapped of the flood and its devastation.

March 31 2010 4:30 PM: National Guardsman just ordered me to evacuate my apartment because the dam behind me is in imminent danger of collapse!
